| When I got out of bed this morning and saw that it was rainy and cold AGAIN, I wanted to scream and stamp my feet. "I NEED A SUNNY WARM WEEKEND!"
Working all week, I look forward to getting my two days in the garden. With the temps staying so chilly, there is not a real rush to plant out sprouts, but I want to! May is right around the corner - come on already! Anyone else feeling feeling like Spring will never come? Sigh. With Warm Regards,

| Since I started WSing so late this year, my few sprouts are too small to plant out. BUT ... I have a few things I'd like to transplant. My terrace is covered in water, and I'm really not in the mood to bring in pots and do the work inside. Grrrrr! And it's going to be like this for most of the next week. I just finished making a banana bread, and an oatmeal quick bread - like I need either of them. Oh well, maybe I can get some more sowing of annuals done. Joining you in whining, PV |

| The sun peaked out a little bit here in Chicago this morning...but it is not looking warm, though. The sky is still quite leadened....more rain to come later and the rest of the weekend... I am scrambling for more rain barrels here. Will pick up a few barrels for DH to convert...hope he won't grumble too much. :-) PV, send some of the goodies back here, please. I can get a sniff of that miles away....... |

| I'm whining too. :) Let's have a whiny club. I did sow a little and washed my stockings by hand and cut my toenails, these last 2 tasks I put off as long as possible, so I guess the rainy weather is good for something. I slung a plastic sheeting over my containers. Nothing I can do about what just got planted in the garden, except hope they don't get washed downstream. And to think I put a chair over my newly planted, to shield it from the sun! Optimistic thinking. Yep same here, nothing to look forward to but at least one week of similar weather, altho tomorrow is sup'd to at least not rain. hmphh |
|
| You know pvick, a couple of slices of warm banana bread (hmmm, one with butter, one with cream cheese..) would really help with my CRANKINESS!!!! I'm tempted to hop on the L.I.E and show up at your doorstep! Poor hubby, we are having guests for Easter tomorrow and he had the nerve to suggest we could spend the rainy day getting the house ready (we've not even brought up the couple of Easter decorations we've got). And I am so not wanting to play "Easter prep" without a few hours in the garden! |

| Double darn ditto!! I'm pouting & pouring over daylily catalogs picking out a few new ones but I'd rather be outside playing with my jugs. Almost all the sprouts are still so tiny I can barely see some of them and I can't take photos because even the zoom lens won't pick them out!!! The lupine sprouts are finally... finally ...showing signs of putting out a true leaf but at the rate they're going it'll be September before they have two!!! The grass is greening up and the foxes have moved back into Blueberry Bottom--I saw them twice the past couple of days--but with temps struggling their way into the 40's, who wants to bundle up like Nanuk of the North to work outside? Yup!! Another whiner here!! |
|
| Would everyone like some cheese with your "whine"? Ok, let me join in. We are having a decent day today, so I could get out in the garden - the next five days stink. But I should really clean the house for Easter and we have a wedding to attend at 3:00. And I have a turkey carcass to make into soup and sourdough ready to make pumpkin sourdough bread and food to make for tomorrow. I need a game plan: Creakkkkkkkk...the sounds of my old bones getting up to go garden. Have a blessed Easter! Bev |

| I'm SO SICK of polar fleece and corduroy and @#$%^& LAYERS!!! |
|
| When I started wintersowing, I was a stay at home mom. In March I started working full time. Now I'm so jealous of my stay at home husband when I'm stuck in the office on those few sunny days and he's outside doing yardwork with the kids. Hmph. This rain needs to let up so I can play too! |

| "I'd rather be outside playing with my jugs. " I will be laughing at this one for quite a while! I may even start using jugs as containers just to make jokes! Please add me to the whine list!! Temps in the 40's, raining today, tomorrow, and predicted from Tuesday through the end of next week. As bad as it is, though, you betcha I was out there this morning, checking on my containers! |
|
| lol Beatrice, I was thinking the same thing: "Gee if she is gonna play with her jugs shouldn't she do it inside?!" :) It stopped raining here (for now) so am off to walk, and will stop in my garden to commiserate with my water-logged garden friends. Here's to better days my friends. |

| Lol. I use the phrase go check my jugs or go play with my jugs and my hubby always grins and ask to play too!!! Hahahaha We actually have a beautiful day here. Got my blueberries planted and raspberries. But on to the wine.....other than the wine I am drinking. :P |
|
| I'm beginning to think I missed summer, nevermind spring. Woke up Tuesday morning to 2 inches of snow for crying out loud! I just want to get out and play in the dirt. |
|
| Add me to the list. Today was the first nice day we've had since I can't remember. 76 and the sun was out, while I was at work, the clouds have returned but once in a while the sun has a peek or two between the clouds. There really isn't anything for me to do in the yard, it's a wet meadow right now and will be some time before it's dry enough to do anything, that's if it'll stop raining! Today I did open some of my jugs for the sprouts that have their first set of true leaves so they can air out. But when it rains, I'll place them under the overhang of the roof to keep them from getting more water, they're water-logged as it is. I've also been sowing more jugs to get the gardening bug out of my system, keep going back and forth as to whether I want to order a bunch of plants for beds I can't even prep yet (but keep thinking I can keep them in pots until I do!), and clean house. Next week--more rain. Bleh! But I know, come July/August, I'll be whining for there to be rain. Karen |

| I've been whining and b!tching since I got out of bed at 6 a.m to pounding rain and thunder. The tornado sirens went off yet again about an hour ago. Karen |

| The rain has tapered off here to a fine mist so I bundled up and went outside. Pulled a few weeds and took these:

This mini-daffodil is the size of a quarter Euphorbia 'Bonfire'

| Gardenweed - what are the blue/white flowers. They are beautiful! Karen - I would be whining and b!tching too! You're having a long haul of it! I almost think the weather is cooperating with me! Yesterday, I HAD to stay in and clean house, and it rained, made that alot easier. Today, not much to do inside, and the weather was perfect. Worked outside all day! But I'll be joining in on the whining next week-rain every day! Happy Easter! Shirley! |

| Shirley - do you mean the columbine or the periwinkle? I have an entire hill covered in periwinkle/vinca vine that blooms this time of year. I picked up the columbine at a nursery last week--they were selling gallon pots of their nursery-grown perennials 8/$40. You can't winter sow them that cheap! I picked up the Euphorbia 'Bonfire' along with the columbine & a new pure yellow gaillardia called 'Golden Goblin.' Those columbines are 3" across and the plants are loaded with buds! BTW - the foxes live down in back, to the left of the yellow columbine in that last picture. |
