When is it safe to plant them out?

My first successful wintersown garden was 2005, in PA. I haven't had a good garden since then because of black walnut and other factors in our backyard. This year I'm growing everything in the front yard, and surprise, surprise! Out of 100+ seeds from my seed-trading days several years ago, I've got about 50+ hunk-o-seedlings so far (I didn't realize they would survive all the abuse that they've received in storage, in travel -- some even got a little damp and moldy!). I used those seedling-starter kits and they're growing well. Is it too early to plant the ones with true leaves out? Or should I wait until May and transfer them to pots first?

Thanks for any advice!
