| These are either wintersown plants or weeds. The first one is from last fall (I forgot about posting it and I don't remember if I pulled it up). The others were taken yesterday. Clicking on the small picture will open a bigger one. Thanks! Becky
These last two are the same plant - I know it isn't a weed, but the way it is growing has me confused. It has an above-ground tuber or something that the sprouts are coming out of. |
Follow-Up Postings:
| No clue on the first. Second one, the flowers look like mustard, the leaves not so much - but maybe something in the brassica family? Last two I would vote for amsonia, or maybe one of the milkweeds. |
| The white one could be achillea "The Pearl." No clue on the yellow. I vote for butterfly weed or milkweed. My butterfly weed looks just like that emerging from the ground. cheers, |
| Could the first one be some kind of iberis? Second one is bugging me because I know I've seen it but can't place it... Dee |
| I will be happy if the third one is a milkweed. Maybe I need to bury it a bit, to cover the bulbous-looking thing? I am thinking the other two are things I did not plant, which means they are either weeds or visitors from someone else's garden. I am always afraid to pull things out because I think "did I plant that last year?" Becky |

| becky, i'm pretty sure teh second pic with the yellow flowers is a weed--- i think it's the same thing that grows everywhere around my house. do you have a close up of the flowers? i do the same thing-- sometimes it's impossible to tell what i planted and what is a weed, and no matter how careful i try to be about notes, they are never right LOL |
| No help on the first two, though think the white flowers are cute. Could the last two be platycodyn (balloon flower) or echinops? Seems like I have seen those shiny leaves before though can't remember which plant. I didn't see anything like that when I was cleaning up the flower beds this week but it is too early for some of the perennials here. I couldn't tell if that was a bulb at the base or part of last year's old grizzled stem. |
| Could the last ones be Baptisia? Mine looked a lot like that when it first came back up this spring. |

| I can't help with the IDs but I can tell you the people in the Name That Plant forum are very good, helped me ID a salvia last year. You may have better results asking over there. |

| The first one looks similar too... Myoporum floribundum? I was cruising around the web this morning and remembered the photo from last night and happened upon a photo of the Myporum this morning the two look similar...not sure though the leaves look slightly different..? Purely a guess on my part! 'happy gardening' bgrow_gardens |

| Okay, I thought the yellow one was a weed but just wanted to be sure. I am going to yank it today before it goes to seed, LOL. I have no idea what the first one is, but it would have to be something native to the U.S. because almost everything I have is native. I am just going to have to wait on the last one. I have baptisia, I have milkweed, I have platycodon, I have echinops. None of them have had the bulbous growth on the bottom in the past, that I have noticed. I am going to predict that it will be some sort of milkweed, because I did plant a variety of seedlings a couple of years ago, and some were just starting to grow well last year. I will report back with a new picture when it reveals its true identity! Thanks for all of the suggestions, and happy gardening! I only did a little wintersowing this year, so have fewer containers to plant out this spring. But it is still exciting watching my babies grow up. Becky |

| My mystery plant number 3 is starting to bloom - tiny blue flowers. It is amsonia! I don't know which variety, and I don't know why I only have one. But it is going to be a beauty. Becky |
