I just received my seed order from swallowtail.Is it to late to ws heliotrope.marine?I really want this plant.I am in North Ga.zone 7.Is there a list some where for cold requirements on seeds.I know on fags there is alist for zone 7 but most are natives..I have alot of seeds to sow but if it is too late for this winter,I will have to wait.

Hi Moonphase,

Heliotrope is perennial in zone 11 and warmer.

Heliotrope is usually grown as an annual. I bet it will love your warm zone. You should be fine to sow it now.

It can be slower to germinate, but I have sowed it in the spring (April/May) in my zone 5, and I have flowers by August. You might have speedier germination and growth with warmer climate.

I agree with Norabelle - treat it as a slow growing annual. I've tried it and have not liked waiting so long for the flowers (and their lovely scent) but I think with GA summer temps, you are going to get flowers a whole lot sooner. It loves sun and heat.
