| I have learned I need to wait until its warmer for MG's and Moonflower.
However, I did sow Blue and Red Passion Vines in the Winter (Jan). Does this apply for Passion flower? What is your experience with Blue/or Red Passion vines. When did you sow these? |

| I think I sowed my passiflora Incarnata like in september or october. I also sowed an unamed passion flower that same day. Well I got Incarnata sprouts this past week. I also sowed some Passiflora caerulea maybe january or febuary and I haven't got sprouts yet. This is my first time sowing passionflower but I have heard they take awhile to germinate and they are hard to break that dormancy cycle. Some advise to even soak in some kind of acidic mixture prior to sowing, like even orange juice. Also they advise to remove the, oh me what is that technical name, you know that stuff around the seed. I didn't remove it on the passiflora Incarnata, but it was removed on the caerulea and the unamed before sowing. |

| Thank You Carolyn. I will wait until the end of May. If nothing happens. I will re-cyle the soil for next WSing. |

| Ladyrose - Passiflora Incarnata is hardier than caerulea. Neither of these tropical plants need the winter chill provided by winter sowing although incarnata may survive it as it did for Carolyn. If you want to try "regular" sowing - pour hot water over the seed and let it soak for 24 hours, it generally takes temperatures of 68 to 77F to germinate (so stick a milk jug inside where it gets some light). |

| Ladyrose why not just leave out your container out till next spring and see what happens. Granted Faerygardener is correct that neither caerulea or Incarnata "need" that cold period, but both are native so they should be able to handle it. |
