I've done annual dahlias from seed and found the plants to be very sturdy, not fussy. I think they will survive the planting out just fine.

I am not doing any seed dalhias this year though, because I just find they take too long to bloom for me here. The plant grows just fine, but sometimes no flowers till August.

I stick with bare-root dahlias and they still don't bloom until late summer. I haven't bothered to try and collect any seed--I don't think my season is long enough to grow them via WS. The flowers are so stunning, they're worth the effort but I just don't have that much gardening time.

I'm growing C. glomerata via WS--they sprouted a month ago and are sending out their first true leaves. The only photo I have at the moment is of the tiny sprouts. I got very high germination on the seeds, which I ordered from Diane's Flower Seeds.

I grew dahilas a few years ago from seed. I was shocked they bloomed the same year. The ones I grew were labeled short lived perennial, well they did not come back and since they were a hybrid they were sterile. The blooms were gorgeous, but I doubt I will try again with another hybrid annual. I would defintely try one that I could collect seed from and grow each year.

The baloon flower I grew last year bloomed the same year also, and they came back this year.

I notice when I sow to many seeds in a container and my container looks like a chia pet my seedlings do not grow well. I personally think you did good by seperating your seedlings. I think they will be fine.

Balloon Flower seems to be one of the slug's favorite night snacks here. I planted a bunch last year and so far, I've only seen two left.

The ones I planted this year appear to have been eaten. I guess that might be one of the ones I just have to get full grown and see if I can see it bloom that way.
