WS redwood, redbud, & arborvitae

I have small sprouts of redwood (sequoia), redbud, and two types of tall arborvitae. Should I pot them up in like one or two gallon nursery pots? My husband thinks I should just plant therm "where I'm going to plant them." Of course, I don't know where I want everything to go yet and I think they should be a bit bigger before being sent out on their own. I also will probably give some away to family. How do you guys handle WS trees?

You should pot them up and let them grow on before setting them out - at least a year, maybe two, depending on how fast they grow.

Redbuds have a taproot that grows very rapidly when the tree is young. It is better to get the tree planted before the taproot gets too unwieldy. I'd move the redbud to a container for this summer and plant it in the fall when the summer temperatures cool off.
