Planted out winter sown blue fescue clumps

Today I planted out approx 20 clumps of blue fescue that I winter sowed in large styrofoam cups. They looked big enough. When I tipped them out of the cups I was amazed by the roots - I have read that winter sown plants develop incredible root systems and that certainly seems to be the case with this grass. I didn't start it until early March because the seeds took so long to get here after I ordered them and was concerned that might be too late but they grew into nice little clumps. Wish I could say the same for the catmint - they all germinated but every single one died. Don't know what I did wrong with them.
