Congratulations!! Those are some mighty fine looking sprouts you've got there! Doing the happy sprout dance for Shirley & her WS sprouts! I'm curious about the germination on your rudbeckia. Did you get good germination or are the sprouts few and far between? I'm not impressed with seeing 1-3 sprouts per jug--I wanted LOTS of them. Guess I have to chock it up to traded seeds. Same with gaillardia/blanket flower.

Congratulations! Really Nice Sprouts!

Gardenweed - you can see in the pic, the rudbeckia hirta, in the tea jugs, went beserk! The last two in the next row are the Irish Eyes (?), and the Cherry Brandy-not very much germination on those two. I've noticed that the "old stand-byes" very often do the best. My echinacea purpurea is sprouting all over, and the white swan and the double decker aren't sprouting as much. Shirley!

It looks like you have taken the tops off. How long have you taken them off? Do you put tops back at night or when it's going to get cold? Do you have those containers under some protection or they are under open skies?

Really nice looking sprouts Shirley, did you get them all planted yet? All my sprouts are still small, I did plant out a few this morning, gonna go now, to see if I can plant any more,I thought I did a lot, but I need more, lol to many beds I guess. How many jugs did you do this year? cAROL

Jaggu - I took the tops off yesterday, ALL of the jugs needed the sun shining on them to dry them up a bit. I didn't put the tops back on, pitched them, I never get frost back there, and the night temps have been mid 40s. I did cover them with netting, so the squirrels and birds can't get at them! Just1morehosta - I've planted 10-12 so far, with 6 ready to go tomorrow. And the pansies will probably be planted this weekend, rain or not! Most of my seedlings are still small too, but hopefully, with some sunshine, they'll get going. I did 184 altogether, 126 counted for the zone wars. 30 of them are late Christmas gifts, so I don't have to worry about those ones, hey, every little bit helps! I can't imagine planting out over 1000! I worked outside all day today, funny how it looks like I have twice that much more to do! Shirley!
