I'm a zone colder and i have quite a bit sprouting. Shasta daisies, delphiniums, snow-in-summer, laura bush petunias, blue flax, pansies, gold dust alyssum, bachelor buttons, perennial aster, zinnias, rose campion. There's a few others i can't think of right now. What did you sow?

I have well over half of my containers sprouting vigorously. Most of my stuff is perennial natives that are pretty hardy, bu tI would have though that even some tender annuals would have sprouted by now. I'd also be interested to know what you sowed and when. Martha

Thanks for your replies. I sowed mid April. I had two days of quite warm weather then cold and snowy. Now the forecast for the next week is in the low 70's so I bet I may see some action. I sowed blackeyed susan, purple and white coneflowers, larkspur (one sprout), calendula, snow in summer, basket of gold, carpet of snow ,sunflowers, and painted daisy. The calendula seeds I direct sowed are sprouting. I thought the calendula seeds in milk jugs would sprout sooner than those sowed directly in the garden but not the case for that particular seed. Anyway I am having a lot of fun doing this!

About 2/3 of my perennials have sprouted, and those were sown back in the winter. I sowed a bunch of annuals, herbs, and tomatoes last weekend, also some daylilies. The only sprouts I've got so far out of those are some Cosmos, and the Mammoth Russian Sunflower seeds are starting to sprout because they're pushing up the soil. I expect that most of those will sprout over the next couple weeks especially if the weather warms up.

Just about everything I sowed has sprouted. And some died with the cold snap mid April. And been re-sowed. And now has re-sprouted. :oP Some seeds, especially certain perennials need a cold stratification before they sprout. If something doesn't sprout this summer, leave it till next spring and you might see some more action. :o)

This is my 1st year WSing, and so far all but a couple jugs have sprouted, so I'm encouraged! We do have a couple cool nights coming up though, so I'm going to close jugs back up & have the frost fabric ready just in case! Especially for the tenders like basil, peppers & tomatoes!
