It's looking great. How much extra garden space will that give you?

My close-ups of flowers make you all smile. You would not smile if I posted photos of my little green acre of weeds and crabgrass. I spent today doing cleanup--leaves and sticks and fallen branches along with dandelions and violets and creeping charlie. I laid down THICK cardboard and 3-4 inches of bark mulch on top hoping to smother the weeds. Last year I laid down mulch on top of layers of newspapers but the newspapers were only good for a few weeks. Thought I was out of cardboard today when I remembered the new water heater came in a big box that I saved so that's what I cut up today and put under the mulch on top of the mulch.

cAROL - I'm beginning to think a hot tub is on my list of must haves this year!!!

Thank You all.

Lynda, I did not measure but it is def 3 ft out. I think it's too deep. I'm think of moving some of it off to the right more.

It will keep me from going rose krazy. There used to be 127 roses krammed into that one spot.

Ladyrose65... Sending you happy knees and back vibes. My favorite part of a new bed is how easy it is to plant - well maybe that is my second favorite part. The best is having more space to plant!

Looks great. If you add lots of organic matter your "not so good dirt" will be much improved.

Hey, you use the same perfume I use at times! (Bengay)

cArol-keep checking the Free listing on craigslist in your area. I see free hot tubs being given away about every other week or so here. If we had the space I'd get one ASAP!

I second beatrice on Craigslist. I see them given away a LOT. Sometimes they have minor issues, like a pump needs replacing.

And the garden is looking great! :oD

kqcrna, it wasn't that bad when I started to work with it. I amended w/peat, composted manure, vermiculate. I just waiting for a good rain.

Pippi, you are too funny! I had everyone in the house complaining about the bengay.

Lovin' your garden, Ladyrose!

I have a hot tub I am giving away, if anyone wants to drive to NH to pick it up... it needs a new cover, and it works.....

The rain keeps bypassing our area. I noticed the nurseries have cut back a lot on their stock. I believe we are in for another drought. A real bummer! We just finished a large vegetable garden in the back. If this keeps up, they are going to send out letters on when we can use our water.
