40 Minutes In The May Garden

Hi all - thought you'd like an update on the garden.

Here's a set of photos taken today. Everything but the yellow/purple heritage iris are either WS or self seeded offspring of WS.

For those of you who remember my big two years of Zone Lynda container craziness, guess what! I sowed exactly ZERO containers this year.

Things have been really busy, but fortunately the perennials are big enough that they can do battle with the weeds. Most of this year's garden care will be to treat it all as a weed whacker garden - occasionally string trimming any weeds that seem too happy, and cutting open the access paths as needed.

Growing conditions here are pretty harsh, and it seems like it's best to let the strongest perennials overrun the weaklings. It's fun watching them all fight it out. :)

Karen KQ - those verbena bonariensis seeds you sent me did really well last year, and the winter was warm enough that they overwintered as a perennial. They are going to be a very welcome garden thug in this garden!
