Congrats on your sprout Tepelus. I got a division of Euonymus americanus from a trade several years ago. It is still alive, but the foliage and stalks die back quite a bit over our harsh winters. I think it's a bit too tender for this zone, but I could relocate it to a more sheltered location. That trader also sent me some seeds, but I haven't tried to germinate them! I've also read that deer supposedly love this shrub.

Congrats!! I sowed some also and I haven't had one germinate. I plan to leave my container out till next spring.

I am curious, when did you sow yours? Also did you have yours in part shade or full sun? I am thinking I didn't have enough cold.

I think I got my seeds in November from a trade and I planted them right away because I read they have a short life? I don't know. They were put, along with the others, where they got sun from about noon until 4 or 5 pm, then some light shade. I move all of my unsprouted/unopened jugs into more shade, but they still get about an hour of full sun. Where they are now, in the mostly shady spot, is where I got the one sprout. I moved them all to more shade so they won't fry when the sun shows up.

Thank you for the congrats, everyone. I hope more will sprout soon. If this happens to be the only one, I'll pluck this little one out and let the jug sit for another winter and see if the rest of the seeds sprout.
