They're just soooo small right now! Will they get to a decent size this year? Mostly curious about delphiniums, shasta daisies, swiss giant pansies and balloon flower.

It can be surprising how little these babies will grow the first year. I can only comment on balloon flower, but they barely seemed to move all last summer. They look perfectly healthy, but don't put on much size. I transplanted them to my new house, and now they're three times the size they were last fall. Some one has a saying about wintersown perennial seedlings--I think it goes "1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, and 3rd year leap!" Be patient and make sure you label them if there is any chance you'll forget what they are. Hang in there!! Martha

The only thing I've wintersown on your list is the Shasta Daisy. The winter sown plants I sowed last year got to be pretty good size - a clump of foliage about 6 or 8 inches across and tall but no blooms the first year. This year the clumps are probably at least 12" tall and wide and getting lots of buds. The daisies I winter sowed a couple of years ago have formed huge clumps.

Give the shasta daisies and the balloon flowers plenty of room - especially the balloon flowers, since I've heard they don't like to be transplanted. They may get large enough to give you a few small flowers, but you should look for healthy green growth and get excited about that this year.
