| Early this spring I bought caladium bulbs from a big box store. I learned after getting them home that it was much too cold here to plant them out. I let them sit in my laundry room unattended. Then I started to worry about their not surviving there in the dark location, so I planted them in a 2-liter bottle, thinking if they came up, I could nurse them along until the weather warmed up. Well, nothing happened, until today, when I looked down and saw this bottle that had been nestled between my veggie containers. I picked it up and noticed a weed. I opened the jug to pull the weed and found baby caladiums under the weed. I had given up on the caladiums ever sprouting weeks ago.
This winter sowing stuff is so amazing. |
