I wonder if your bbs are water-holics. Like many plants this year, the abundant rain kept them from sending down roots as far as usual to look for water. Then, when we get one or two dry days in a row, it looks like they are drying up b/c they have been taking their drinks in a much shallower manner. They are spoiled but look deprived.

yes that makes sence. they reseed don't they? i know i have a lot more this yr then i planted last yr. so i don't have to worry that i won't have any next yr do i?

If they re-seed, they will grow. Remember, in some parts of the country they are considred invasive, so they do like to volunteer. Check out the noxious weed list in Washington State, I believe Vera pointed that out several years back. They are well-behaved in my garden in Ohio.

If you feel you need more seed, post in the late fall. Folks seem to have plenty of seed in all the colors. Check out blackball if you don't already have it. It's very eye catching.
