Looking for plant sale help New England

Ok this plant sale thing has become all consuming. I did the math on what I'd need to spend to start all the seeds AND to pot them up for the sale.
Whom ever said "dirt cheap" was no Gardner.
I have posted this on FB,and emailed a few companies for donations.
What else should I be doing?
Good day,
I am planning a charity plant sale to benefit Boston Childrens hospital in May 2010.
I successfully hosted a small scaleplant sale this past May and raised $3300.00
I hope to raise $10,000 in 2010.
I grew 80% of the plants sold in my home.I took no percentage to cover my costs.
Next years goal is going to take a lot more plants and I am looking forward to the challenge of growing them. However I am asking for your support in donating any propagation supplies(trays, plug cells, starting mix, seed mats ect ect) you thing would be helpful in this endeavor. I do not have a green house and plan on starting the perennials for 2010 now.I will also need any 4" pots peat,or plastic you may be willing to contribute. If there is any plant materiel you would consider donating in May 2010 that would be welcome as well.
I am the wife of a 100% disabled USAF veteran. We have 4 children. Our whole family gets involved in this.Any contribution you can make to defray our costs is greatly appreciated. Costco Wholesale at the Avon MA location donated the space to host the plant sale. You may call Shannon Lundholm Warehouse manager at 508-232-4000 to verify this request.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

| Definitely post on your local Freecycle board and the Freecycle Discussion board if you have these in your area. |

Definitely post to FreeCycle and Craigslist. AND I'd post it at a variety of times (now - late summer - midfall and spring). I know that I have given away lots of small pots to people requesting via FreeCycle and I've seen plenty of Craigslist posts for people giving away plant divisions. |

| Kindly RetiredProf edited my excitement in to something that better resembles English: Good Day, I am planning a charity plant sale to benefit Boston Children's Hospital in May, 2010. | Michelle - In my "growing under lights" days, I once bought a large case of 3" square pots and do have many left over that have never been used. Now that I am WSing, I pot up very little - most goes ut in the garden right from the jug. Please click and send me an email with your address and I will send what I have left to you. There out in a shed but I would say there are at least 100. Are you looking for perennial seed too or just herbs? Nancy |

| Can you enlist the help of your local horticultural society or master-gardeners group? I don't know what city you live in or near, but it would be good to get the aid of gardeners in your immediate area, not just on the net. Most if not all gardeners have more plants than they can use themselves, and would like to donate them to a good cause. They need to be within reasonable driving distance to do this, however. |

| I have sent a msg to the Mass Hort. But it's a shrinking organization due to a lot of issues in the past year. I am posting the following at work: Crazy Plant Lady Needs Your Trash! Please, I am looking for: * Paper towel tubes * Toilet paper rolls * 8 oz or bigger plastic containers (with or with out the lids, like yogurt, sour cream, cream cheese, fluff tubs, etc) * Gallon and half gallon milk jugs I am also looking for any plastic pots you do not need, peat pots and pellets, plant trays and potting soil or mix. Why, you may ask, does Michelle want my trash?? To grow seeds and plants in, of course! And....I could use some volunteers. I am planting perennial seeds NOW for next year's CMN plant sale so we have bigger plants for sale. If you are willing to adopt some seeds to plant and grow, or to foster care for some I have planted, please email me at rosesarered73@gmail.com In the winter of 2010 if anyone wants to learn about a super easy way to start seeds I can introduce you to WINTERSOWING. (Check it out online at XXXX). In the early spring of 2010 I will need people who want to learn how to grow under lights and to adopt veggie plants and herbs. Of course, you get to keep a few of anything you grow, all my free advice that you can stand, and the satisfaction of helping CMN...without selling a single balloon! Michelle --------------------------------------------- Thanks again to Prof for making me sound intelligent! |

| If you email me your address, I'll send seeds after the harvest(s). Do you only want herbs? I bought cuban oregano this year, 2 types, and I'm not sure if they'll grow from seed, but I'll save some, if they offer seeds. However, I am going to try to root cuttings because these are the MOST fabulous herb EVER for cooking!! I'll pay twice what I did for them next year, if I fail at rooting, and think other "home chefs" would pay well for them as well. I can't believe I've cooked for this long without hearing of this wonderful herb... |
