I was given several varieties of South African erica (heath) seeds. The instructions for germination require a greenhouse and/or "smoking" the seeds to simulate a seasonal burn-off. Another site recommended planting in clay cat litter kept moist and temperature controlled for up to six months.

Has anyone had luck winter sowing ericas? These poor seeds aren't going to get started any other way at my house.
