| Hello! I've been winter sowing for a few years with mixed results. I've read that growing lavender from seed is not that successful. I'm wondering if anyone has tried winter sowing lavender and what kind of results you have had. I just removed an old stump and want to make a lavender bed in the circle area left behind.
Thank you! |

| I'v WSed lavender successfully. I've done Lady and Munstead Dwarf. I don't have my records in front of me, but I had fairly good germination, especially on the Munstead Dwarf. I'll add that Munstead Dwarf was one of the ones that lived in its milk jug for three years, overwintering in the garage. I finally planted it out this spring! Good luck! |

| Fantastic results for me. I think just about every seed germinated. I planted them out HOS (hunk of seedlings) style and they did great. They bloomed in their second year. Lynda |

| I've WS'd it last year and this year. Great germination on English lavender, Dwarf Munstead and Hidcote. I had so many plants last year I sold them at a garage sale and made enough $ to cover all my potting mix costs. :-D No special treatment to WS - open the pack, seed the jug, stand back and wait. | Lavender works great with WS, I've sown many types including Spanish Lavender which is not perennial in zone seven. Lavender does best, I think, with fresh seeds--if you can obtain some through trade or saved from your own garden plants then you'll have better germination than with seeds from any commercial packet. | Did Lady Lavender seeds that were probably about 2 years old and they did very well. Only had a few seeds to begin with, so no HOS. Have 3 plants growing now. Slugs got some early on. Sure wish I could grow Lavender officianalis up here! |

| Finally had time to check in - thanks to everyone who responded. I'm excited to give this a try this coming winter. Happy sowing!! |
