I had to post a few more. I have been taking pics every week and love it so much. I've had lots of color this year and am already trading for seed to do this again. Thanks for convincing me.

Floodthelast - I loved your photos - so beautiful and I love all the colors, especially the pinks (my favorite)

Thanks

The Antique Pink Peony Poppy is mine. :O) It's uniquely different and has that 'joie de vivre' that I like.

RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Thank you all, I am enjoying the Borage too. If I can figure out the seed saving with it you are welcome to some, friesfan.
Thanks Carrie, with all the new flowers my photography skills have really gone up a notch. Next year should be something too.
I'm so glad you said so Tiffy, I was hoping someone who shared with me would get to see the results. I really like those poppies and should be able to save quite a bit of seed for next year. Thank you.

RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Gorgeous! I'm especially partial to the borage, as that was a big presence in the medieval herb gardens I visited in the UK.

But the photo of the tricolor daisy could be on the front of one of those photo cards. Lovely!

RE: Showing off my WS blooms

It's the first time I've seen and heard Borage. Your Borage is gorage! Can you save some seeds for me please? Is Ohio in zone 5a too?

Love your pics!!! :)

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Great pics! Keep them coming. I can't wait to see more. Your flowers are lovely.

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Look at all your pretty blooms! Great job!

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Aww, thank you all. It is encouraging. Virt1, I can try and save some, it depends on how well I do that. This is my first year with them. I did buy the pack from burpee so they are commercially available if I fail you. I'm in z5b, yuck even colder. So yes this annual would do well for you.
I am having so much fun with all the pics.

Your Borage is gorgeous!

I'm so sorry! Did you grow it from seed?

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

All your blooms are so gorgeous! Great photography too!

Wow, lovely blooms, and you have a way with framing photos! Very very nice.

Virtuosity, I thought it was clever and funny--it was clear what you meant, and seemed like a play on words. :)

PS: actually, 5b is warmer, it's closer to zone 6.

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

The flowers are gorgeous and the photos are beautiful.
Pls put me down for Borage seeds...and dk green hosta that you mentioned in my thread. Thanks. :-D

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Thanks Theresa.
I thought it was on purpose too Virt1.
I'm in the snow belt so I don't know that I have warmer temps. Could be I suppose I just can't tell the difference.
I did start the borage from seed. They grew up fast and were great germinaters.
pitimpinai, I'll see what I can do on the Borage and I'll email you about the hosta. :)

Very nice!!

2 times I've tried to grow Borage from 2 different trades but never get any germination :(
Love the 'Lauren's Grape' Poppy. Mine must have died soon after planting out...waiting too long to get the job done did it I'm sure. My 'Danish Flag' planted at the same time though are the only ones to survive...aside from all the self-sown ones that is!
Just did a search for the Tri-Color Daisy and see that Burpee carries seed for this annual heirloom (Chrysanthemum carinatum)...definitely a must have for me :))

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Thanks Vera,
I should be able to get some seed from the tricolor daisies. They are starting to look ready. I only need enough for a few pots I think. Of course they would make fabulous gifts for my mom and sisters gardens. Hmmmmm.
As far as the borage, buy some from burpee I swear every seed germinated for me. I don't usually support brands but these did so well for me.
The lauren's grape was a real straggler for me for a long time. Some of them were tiny and yellowish foliage. Worth the wait though, I will sow them again. Next year the hollyhocks will hide them once they turn yellow :)

Vera - tri colored daisies are also available from Swallowtail Seeds. Bigger pack, lower price and lower shipping compared to other places.

Sherbet Fizz
I believe is the name of that calendula. I may set some aside for trade, as of now they aren't ready. I can't promise though because I must get some for my mom and one or two other ppl yet.
Me too brandymulvaine, in fact here I am again at four a.m. my son is not sleeping well.

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

The calendula is gorgeous. How does calendula hold up in the high heat and humidity of summer?

You have my sympathy on the kids not sleeping. Have faith, before you know it they'll be teenagers and want to sleep around the clock.

RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Those seem to be holding up well, they are not as tall as the other's so far and not as scraggly.

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

OK, calendula might have to go on my list.

Karen

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Wow,
I love that white sunflower. How tall is it??
The calendula , I love those, but the bugs always seem to
eat up the petals. I just planted some seeds last night.
Hopefully, they will have nice blooms and be bug free.

Yeah right!

Mary

RE: Showing off my WS blooms

The white sunflower is really a light yellow, it's about four foot I think. It fell over and is blooming on it's side which made it easy for me to photograph. :) It is probably lemon chiffon or moonlight?
I have most of my calendula in containers because I wanted them so much. I'm seed collecting to be sure I get more next year. The reds are in my veg. garden and seem to be very happy though. I did get waves of aphids when mine were first blooming but things have settled down some since then.

Your photography is lovely, as are your plants. Do you mind my asking what camera and lens you use for your photographs? The detail is stunning.

Mary

 o
RE: Showing off my WS blooms

Well I looked it up and here it is.

I've never had any different lenses for it. It's a lovely digital that was a replacement for one that broke on Christmas Eve one year.
I try to Get the picture I want as centered as I can with the sharpest focus and I really enjoy cropping and playing. I scrapbook a lot and that helped me with contrast, brightness, hue saturation and that sort of thing.
Gardening has really made my photography shine though. It's so hard to mess up a pic of a beautiful flower. It's really all about having a critical eye, and a nice balance in your crop.
Thank you for the compliments, I do love these.
