| Has anyone ever germinated seeds from Allspice athens (Calycanthus athens)? I know the species and heritage wine germinate freely, but specifically what about athens?
I've heard that athens is a hybrid, which could mean several things, but most commonly that offspring probably won't resemble the parents. Athens is obviously not completely sterile because I've gotten seed for several years. But I haven't had any luck getting any of the seeds to germinate. I hesitate to offer the seeds for trade unless I know they can be grown and if I need to ensure that people know the seeds are from hybrids. |
