can I WS them now or do they need cold stratification?

Most types of lupine will germinate without any chill in 2-4 weeks, an overnight soak to soften up the seed coat a little helps. (L. lepidus, perennis will both benefit from a moist chill of about 3 months.) If your temps are way over 70ish, it could delay germination.

If you sow now, do you have someplace semi-protected for small seedlings through winter, they won't be established or as tough as more mature plants when exposed to hard lengthy freezes.
