Seed ho II - helenium

The seed whoring continues as I purchased a helenium today in a lovely shade of amber with even more lovely seed heads. I have 10 blooms remaining plus so far about 2T of seed for winter sowing.

I went to get alliums for fall planting - who knew?

I picked up aliums for fall planting as well. Just hope I can work up the energy to plant them before frost. Are you offering any of that helenium seed for trade??

Helenium is one of my favourite plants. I was introduced to it the year I started WSing (2006) by someone from Quebec. It was so easy to winter sow, was a first year bloomer, and the lovely shades made beautiful bouquets for my Thanksgiving table. They were a mix of three varieties which I have since separated and offer the seed for trade individually. This year they really suffered from the hot, dry, weather, and I thought they had been infected, but they came through and are in beautiful bloom now. Beware, the first year they are about 2-3 feet tall but the second they shoot up to about 5 feet. That's experience speaking - I had to move all mine against the fence. Enjoy!!!
