I hope someone has a good answer...I think someone needs to spin that stuff and make fabric out of it, it's lightweight and strong...that being said I pick them off.

usually i put the whole cottony pod contents (without the pod) into a brown paper bag. i wait until spring planting time, open the bag, and most of the seeds are down at the bottom.

If you can grab a good pinch of the seeds right out of the pod, you can easily pick the seeds off the fluff that way. It's really easy if there was rain right when the pod opened, as the seeds and fluff will still be packed together, nice and tidy.

a really easy way is to snap off the pod just as it is opening by itself, to reveal the brown seeds, then peel off the pod and you should be left with a compact structure with seeds all around it. grab the white part (the still packed, somewhat mosit fluff) at the top or bottom, and just pull all the seeds off in one motion. real fast and works nice without getting fluff all over.

stage rat: Rain? That's a bad joke. I think I only remember rain from a previous life!

I wish I knew, but my Asclepsias speciosa haven't bloomed in 3 years since wintersowing them!!!!!! Whazzzzup with that?
