No, it doesn't matter what way you plant a seed. There is no 'top' or 'bottom' part that needs to be planted a certain way up, like some types of bulbs. ;-)

I heard certain kinds of tear-shaped seeds such as that of Echinacea and Shasta daisies can benefit, if at least marginally, from planting pointed side down. I've tried it this spring and have had very good germination results. Good luck!

Doesn't matter. The seeds know what to do. Ask ma nature. She flings them every which way.
