| Hello all,
I am a newbie to WS forum ( I usually lurk in houseplants and perennials).Discovered you guys last week and have been educating myself with all the awesome information in the FAQ. I have to say,I even have my gardening-challenged husband (he loves the grass !) all fired up. My only rant (against my luck) is that this year for the first time ever, I got to fall cleaning early and deadheaded all my garden plants to make my garden winter ready. I usually dont get to that until November (or follwing March on some years). So I frantically turned my compost cart upside down and was able to salvage Calendula and some echinacea pow wow seed heads. But the rest is gone - my nasturtiums, asters, primrose, hibiscus, ALL gone :( But all is not lost, I discovered Swallowtail seeds and found that they have free shipping this week and got my
Onto saving milk cartons now........ Anyways, great to have found this forum and looking forward
Regards

Welcome Usha! The discussion board here goes through cycles and it has been a bit slow for awhile, but many of us "old timers" check in - - you'll get plenty of help. I read that you are saving milk cartons..... you do mean milk JUGS (clear plastic), right? To make the "mini green houses" you will need lots and lots of jugs. It is NOT to early to get everyone in your life to start saving them too! Just ask them to rinse them with hot saopy water before storing to give to you,,,they get really really stinky if they don't!!!

Welcome, usha, we're happy to have you aboard. We've had lots of Michigan gardeners who have become successful, happy wintersowers. Our zones 5-6 have, I think, perfect climate for it :-) Karen

Welcome Usha, you come to a good place. Swallowtail is a good company.

Usha, You should definitely create a list of seeds you'd like to grow and post it here. The gardeners here are the most generous, and we love to enable fellow wintersowers. I'm sure many of us could help you gather together a respectable array of seeds to sow this winter. Keep us in the loop. Martha
