Newbie Question - WS in nursery beds?

Most people are writing about winter sowing in containers that are then placed outside.

I live in southeastern VA - our winters are fairly mild although we usually have a week or two when the soil freezes down an inch or so. First frost is late Nov, last frost is early to mid-March.

Does anyone have experience winter sowing seeds outside like this:

(1) in raised nursery beds, then covering the seeds with
plastic containers upside down, milk jugs with the bottoms cut out, 2 ltr soda bottles cut sideways, etc. OR

(2) in raised nursery beds covered by plastic sheeting or Reemay row cover attached to hoops of PVC pipe.

If so, can you share your experiences? Did this work? If I decide to go forward on this, what problems should I anticipate?

Many thanks!
Pam

We just had a long thread on this issue.

Thank you! I searched but didn't know the 'in situ' term. ;-)

Yeah, searches don't always give up the info easily, it's good to ask when it's not obvious!
