Now THAT'S good dirt!

I had a partial bale of Pro-Mix behind my shed & wanted to fill a tote to store in the basement for wintersowing. (it freezes in the shed!) The top was open a little, but we've had wind & rain, so I wasn't surprised by that. What I was surprised by were the 8 inch tall plants growing in the bale! I figured that seeds had blown in & rooted, but when I pulled them out, they still had corn kernals attached to the roots! The corncobs that I had in the shed to feed our local critters had been stripped clean & it appears that the little rodent folks decided to create their own pantry on the outside of the shed wall!

But I still say that that is GOOD DIRT!

What a fun surprise.
I live in a rented apartment attached to a house in front but entirly separate. There has been a beautiful white rhodendron that I would of liked to get starts of. It is overgrown and noone even sees it. Well, it was all cleaned out - the overgrowth - and there was beautiful leaf
mold that was left. I filled half a big garbage bag! I like your story better : )
