Bird grit used in WS

Gardenweed...can you show a picture of the grit product that you use on top of your seeds in your WS containers? Is it chicken or bird grit? refresh my and other's memory why you use it?

No picture but it's just bird grit available at seed/feed stores. Looks like beach sand. I use it for smaller seeds that need light to germinate. I sprinkle it over them lightly to help them make contact with the potting mix. In a gallon jug, I probably use about a half teaspoon, less for smaller containers.
