I have a lot of Kirkland brand milk jugs (from Costco) that I want to use for winter sowing. They are a really nice size and shape, however I noticed that they are more opaque that regular milk jugs. Now I am wondering if my seedlings will get enough light in them.

RE: seed flats

Are they translucent and light goes through them, or are they opaque like a clothes detergent bottle?

If they are translucent then you can use them with confidence. The effect is similar to a greenhouse that has had its windows painted white to filter the sun, it's diffused but still light enough for excellent germination.
