I have had some lovely caring messages. I have lost my job and have been diagnosed with diabetes 2, I'm looking to resolving the big d and finding a new job. It's all good.

You never know how much of an impact you have on people until you take a breather and find people looking for you to make sure you're okay, Bakemom. :)

So sorry to hear about both Type 2 Diabetes and job situation. If anyone can make things work it would be you.

You've already done so much personally and professionally on your own you've got some good luck owed to you in the way of opportunities although these are hard times.

"Ya bloom where yer planted."

Good thoughts and even a heavenly whisper for you.

Oh, Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about both of your issues. I assumed you were consumed by OSU football and kids.

Times are getting tough, for sure. Everyone has job issues these days- layoffs, furloughs, jobs eliminated. Until you find employment, you can concentrate on getting the diabetes under control. Take it easy.

Wishing you the best,
Karen

I do not know you but I know your situation, so many of us are living the downturn of our economy. Sending you good vibes and prayers things will work out on the plus side.

I'm just so relieved to hear from you I don't know what to do. Hang in there. You're bakemom ... you'll conquer both those mountains.

Sorry to hear about the job and the type 2 diabetes. I have type 2 myself and gardening is great exercise for lowering your blood sugar! All those fresh veggies from the garden are great, too. In many ways, I am healthier now than I was before I was diagnosed.

So glad you're back, we really have missed you. Sorry about the "big D", I'm confident you'll do all the right things to take care of yourself. Don't know what to say about the job situation, except we never know what wonderful things may be lying in wait for us just around the corner! Life is full of both good and bad surprises, isn't it? Wishing you many good ones!

Hugs, Mary

Thanks for checking in. I don't know how long you were MIA, but know there was concern over your disappearance.

Sending you best wishes that some very good things will come your way.

It may be hard to do but try to keep your chin up - you never know what's waiting for you. As far as the type 2 goes, just follow your doctor's orders and things will be O.K. Try controlling it with exercise and diet first, then go on to the meds. if necessary. This disease is part of my family story, and it has turned up on my DH's side too, so I know it's not as daunting as it may seem right now. Gardening will do wonders for you. Good luck with the job-hunting.

Sorry to hear about your job and the diabetes. My husband has type two which they diagnosed after two neurosurgeries on his back. He takes care of his, most times, bu exercising and eating a low carb diet. Good luck! Ann

I've got sunflower thoughts for you that life will go better soon.

If finding a new job doesn't go well, you can think about turning selling winter sown plants into a real income this spring. I've selling at a local farmers market and garage sales. Its not enough to live on, but with more outlets it could get real significant, which cushions job losses.

I'm a type 2 diabetic too and you can live well with it. If you aren't already, think about adding some cinnamon and tumeric capsules to your diet; also drinking green tea (not black tea unfortunately). The gov'mint agency I work for did a bunch of research and found both of these spices and green tea help with blood sugar. So do oats like unsweetened oatmeal. You can find write ups on the research at www.ars.usda.gov/news and doing a search on each spice.

So sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure with your great personality a new job isn't going to be to far in the future. : )
I recently did a talk on nutrition(fruits and veggies) for a diabetic support group, and I found quite a bit of info saying how good swiss chard is for diabetes. So grow some swiss chard for the diabetes in your garden. It is pretty and tastes yummy!

I'm glad you checked back in. Whenever I pop in here, I always look for you.

I've flirted with pre-diabetes. I've been fighting it. Apparently it is in my family history (adopted), but mine is really weight related. I wish I liked to exercise more :)

I hope a new job is on the horizon quickly!!!

A line from Bob Marley for you ((((((Bakemom)))))).

"Don't worry, about a thing, cause every little thing, gonna be all right..."

And it will sista! You lean on us- we've got some strong shoulders here.

Sending you loads of good vibes!

RE: I'm here

You have the right outlook on things. I know how discouraging it is to loose a job, after being laid of for ten months this year, and receiving a notice that we would not be called back. I've managed to find a part time job paying minimum wage. It's not much but we won't loose our house and my daughter seems pleased I'm not constantly hovering now that I have somewhere to go a few times a week. Like you say, it's all good. Hopefully it won't take you long to get back in the swing of things.
Please take care of yourself.
