Right now the pods are flat and on the trees. When are they ready for harvest?

If the pods are crisp and split easily on the seam when folded in half, they are ready. :)

RE: Seed saving on eastern redbud trees?

I would love some seeds! When we moved from a Chicago burb, I had a Redbud tree I absolutely loved that just appeared one spring. A bird or squirrel planted it and it grew to be just gorgeous. Unfortunately, I didn't take seeds with me.

Would love to grow some from seed ---- we have acres out in the country now and I can just imagine Redbuds here and there! I have Beauty Berry Bush and some other things to trade if you can trade with me.
