| Yipee! For the next week here the weather is going to SUCK! Yep, cold and rainy today, rainy tomorrow, then sunny this week but nights to freeze or almost to freeze.
It's only late November... But what have I learned about winter sowing? That in a warmer climate you take advantage of these days! That's right, today I am going to wintersow some perennials that have been rather tough for me to germinate here. It is not always cold enough or variable enough for long enough to break their dormancy. Sometimes it's not even wet enough with good 'ol REAL precipitation and then a good cold spell. So today I'm going to do some wintersowing. It's a whole month early, I know - but I've learned this is what the seeds want in my yard... girlgroupgirl |

| So, tell us what seeds you winter sowed! Don't keep us in suspense! It was gorgeous here (for here) today with bright sunshine, clear blue skies & nary a whisper of wind to make the 43 degrees feel chilly. I hope your SUCKY weather means you end up with lots of new perennials come spring. |

| Cold every night this week! I planted: Native Persimmons Enchiops Spring magic aquilegia Dwarf blue balloon flowers Oenothera Lamarckiana dianthus firewitch (mine doesn't come true but makes Dianthus gratianopolitanus Dark blue aquilegia I've been doing them in color pairings, and this year I'm using only tubs from lettuce/greens. I get them free from our church soup kitchen and they have been the best containers for me so far. So much more easier than using bottles etc. I can use these over and over and store at least 50 of them in a big plastic bin, under the house. They are a godsend! |

| Are you direct sowing? We are in the same zone. I was thinking of doing that in addition to winter sowing. Do you think it's too late? |
