a new start

Hello everyone. I have not been on garden web for awhile until here recently. I have had great fun in the past and learned so much. As well as wonderful trades and round robins as well as hosting a few. I have moved to a new state wanting a new start. Having to leave 10 years of plants behind was heart breaking but necessary. So long story short if anyone out there would like to share seeds, cuttings or plants. I would be ever grateful. My yard is completely bare and naked..lol Thanks Erica

Hi & welcome back. Please take a look at my trade list. If there's anything there you want or can use, they're yours for a SASBE. I don't have anything exotic but there are some pretty ones in the bunch.

I would love some of your balloon flower, malva, aster and both coreopsis. thank you so much for the offer. please send me your address and I'll send out sasbe as soon as I can.

Don't hurry on sending out the SASBE since I'm still harvesting seeds altho' fewer as the days pass. I've got lots of balloon flower, aster, mallow, coreopsis & other seeds and will be happy to know they're going to a good home.

I love saving & collecting seeds. Don't know where that comes from genealogically speaking but I'm sure it's something buried deep inside my psychological makeup. Why else would I be completely relaxed spending time picking seeds out of Russian sage chaff with tweezers? I suppose the experts will come up with a fancy name for this affliction just as they have for all the others!

Efrosty1, I am guessing from your screen name you might have come from a much colder zone? If so, and this is your first experience with the south, it will be quite an awakening. The big issues are soil & heat - I came from rocky & sandy New England to thick red Alabama clay last year, and that combined with the heat killed a number of my small plants. OTOH, things I couldn't grow well up north took off like crazy here. I would hop on the Florida Gardening forum if I were you, and/or research plants that grow well in your zone. If you like tropicals, you're going to love it there.

gardenweed_z6a, well we all have our own addictions..lol I thinks that will be the word they label it as..
drippy, yes I moved to fla. from ohio. I was raised in the south an was so happy to come home. good idea about the Flordia forum I didnt even think about them having one. I love tropicals and I was lucky enough to get a lot of large flower pots so I'm gonna try some container gardening too.

One advantage about our sothern heat and soil is that I can plant full sun plants in partial shade with little or no consequnces.

That is about the only one though, lol.
