Trudi:

I can't imagine how you handle the flood of orders. I know this is seasonal and will drop off, but I'm so impressed by your aura of calm encouragement -- "You can do it. Here's how ..."

Thank you!

Drop off? LOL. I'm just started to crank up into high gear.

Coming up will be my third year sharing seeds for the Washington Gardener Magazine seed swap. In their latest issue, btw, you'll find information on how to save tomato seeds. My method! But their photographs, which is really cool.

Then in January I'll be teaching a tomato class at Bayard Cutting Arboretum which is one of the beautiful NY state parks on LI.

So, I do keep busy. I've got to do up a full set of SASE bins--I do prefill the Six Packs and have them stacked in bins. I did three today but I've got seven empties to fill. This morning I finished the Oct 2008-Sept 2009 yearly review and stats for WinterSown.Org, including my plans for next year and sent them off to Beltsville--the totalling was really nice--topped out over 7M hits. And I've got a ton of new tomatoes and peppers to pack, and some perennials too. And I sent off my most recent grant request to America the Beautiful Fund, and I've got to finish cleaning out the garden but it's been too blustery, and I've changed my drawers from shorts and tanks to slacks and sweaters but haven't gotten those up to the attic yet, and then I've got to plant the grasses and bulbs I just bought, and the car needs a new fan motor for the heater and, today I also sent seeds to a pre-k daycare in St Louis and I also sent a semi-tropical blend went down to Talladega Extension, and there's probably something else but I can't remember.

Oh, and I just finished another hidden objects game too.

I'm tired just thinking about all you have going on Trudi,
you go girl! 7 Million Hits- WOW!!!!
You are truly inspiring.... thanks for winter sowing, it has been a blessing in so many ways!

Looks like the rain is headed your way. I didn't know your area was in the coastal flood advisory. Hope you're high and dry up there.

Xrossing fingers for next year.

I do live in a beach cottage but it's four miles inland, lol. We're on a small ridge and we're okay. Thank you for your well wishes.

Hope you stay high and dry too!

Hey Trudi!

I subscribe to Washington Gardener, and I saw the tomato seed story in the latest issue and was pleased that your method is spreading. I've never attended the magazine's seed swap, but I know you've been a long-term donor to the swap. So here's a big thanks for your support of D.C.-area gardeners.

RE: Hey, that's cool.

Trudi - DID read your WS 101 and so glad you posted it. I have referred many friends & family to GW & Wintersowing so now they can get the details from the Pro (YOU)!

Lets all send Trudi_D a buck (or more) towards her printer drum. They are quite pricey. Thanks for all you do! ~Irisgirl

RE: Hey, that's cool.

Great idea, Irisgirl! My next-door neighbor is a Long Island native. Next time he goes home for a visit I'll send a greenback with him for Trudi. I think she deserves at least that much after all the effort and information she's given us about WS. This will be my 1st season WSing--never would have tried it if it weren't for all the great details and information Trudi made available. Now my daughter-in-law is intrigued with the idea too--she asked if she could grow herbs and vegetables and I assured her she can grow whatever she plants as long as she does her homework. Her sister is an avid gardener too so I can't wait to tell Jaime about WSing! I'll see her next week on T-day. The Barlow columbines are awesome! They were growing here when I moved in but I harvested the seed pods and now they don't grow where they were before. Duh!! Thump on the head--they need to self-sow. Even at my age there's a lot to learn! What bugs my neighbors is I actually REMEMBER the gardening stuff. The rest? Well, not so much.
