The black snakeroot bloomed just a couple of weeks before the first hard freeze but as of Thursday it's finished for the season. At least now I know it will survive the first couple of frosts, along with the toad lily.

Lovely! Isn't it nice to have a few things hanging on at this time of year?

Today I was outside rippping out the frost-bitten zinnias, and I saw a beautiful pink gladiola in bloom! What a surprise! I put it in a little bouquet with a few pink, magenta and white snaps, some salvia Victoria, and one last pink zinnia. Nice to have a bouquet like that in November, no matter how small.

Alyssum is great, isn't it? You'd think it was spring just looking at it in full bloom right now!

Pretty.

Everything in my yard is pretty much done. The Yvonne's salvia didn't do so hot this year, and no rain didn't help. Yesterday I still had a few coral nymph salvia left, but it's 25° now so it will probably be a goner, too.

You have lots of interesting flowers still hanging in there. Your pictures are wonderful to look at and I so enjoyed seeing them. I'll have to look through older posts for more of your artistic work.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. There are quite a few photos out there Connie despite the horrible drought this summer. I'm amazed at what tolerated the parched conditions as much as I am dismayed to learn some of my favorites aren't at all drought tolerant.

So many of the things I winter sowed won't bloom until next year, I'm really looking forward to next year's pictures of Echinacea, red hot poker, rose campion, painted daisies, blackberry lily, Siberian iris, penstemon & globeflower. Lots more pictures to come!
