| It has been warm here, till yesterday. We had a lot of rain. Then again this morning, well it brought the cold with it, brrr. The high is 45 today and a chance of snow later in the week. Snow in west tennessee in early december isn't unheard of but rare at the same time. The local paper claimed to have a warmer but wetter winter this year. Well till today I would of agreed.
What is the weather doing in your neck of the woods??

| Yesterday was one of those days you just want to go on for at least a week--bright sun, crystal clear blue skies, only a whisper of a breeze & temp around 45. Doesn't get much nicer than that in November in New England. I carried some milk jugs out to my car at work (the Starbucks kiosk saves them for me) and was glad I had too many to carry out all at once. I went back out with the second bunch of jugs and would have kept walking if I didn't have a meeting. Today the clouds rolled in--we're supposed to get rain & wind tomorrow but they're calling for temps in the upper 50's. After that they're saying we'll be in the deep freeze, so I'm gonna enjoy 50's while I can. I've been stockpiling supplies for the winter so I don't have to schlepp jugs of cat litter & other heavy items through the snow. Stopped at the market for seltzer on sale and they didn't have a single bottle. They gave me a rain check so that's what I'm guessing will be falling when the seltzer truck rolls in and they have their supply again. |

| That must be that same storm that just passed through here yesterday. It feels as the temp droped 20+ degrees since. Then it is wet not raining but it leaves a very wet cold feel. I hope you stocked your wood!! |

| Ugly. Wet. Cold. Nasty. I have some small perennials that haven't been planted out yet and some lettuce I wanted to cover, as it's supposed to be below freezing tonight, but I just don't have the motivation to schlep out there to do it. Whatever will be, will be. |

| drippy I'm with you...que sirrah, sirrah. Whatever will be, will be. There are still pots of winter sown perennials on my breezeway in various states of dormancy. They will go dormant & be placed inside the garage for the winter as & when I have the time & inclination. |

| I am with drippy.... Ugly....Freezing ....snow ....windy .... Butt a** cold!! Winter is a necessary evil. Gotta do it even if we do not like it. Happy Holidays everyone. |

Carolyn, it was 34 degrees when I went to bed last night about midnight; it is 32 now. Brr! I hate cold weather!
Have you send out any of the wintersowing swap envelopes yet? |

| Drippy, When I read your reponse I thought you must be feeling right at home with what seems to be New england weather. :O) No snow yet here - lots of rain. Looks like we might be heading into another warm winter here. Not used to this. Without the snow it doesn't feel like Christmas is coming. The lawns are still all green. Forty+ years ago the lawns were brown by this time of year if not white with snow... |

| It was in the 50s until a few days ago when the cold moved in. Got a couple of inches of snow yesterday. Temps are to be highs in the 20s and lows in the teens. Yesterday's snow is today's ice on road surfaces, driveways, and sidewalks. I was planning to go to the mall Christmas shopping this morning. Rethinking that now. If I don't kill myself on the roads first I'll probably break a leg trying to walk from car to mall. I really hate winter here. I won't be warm until April. Karen |

| Lol@ pippi!! We got the last package yesterday, I sat down about 4pm and got busy. I took 2 breaks, 1 for dinner, 2 to go pick up my youngin. I was up till 2 am, lol, we are not close to the finish. I hope to have it done by this coming up weekend. We had a few days of sun, now the clouds are back out!! |

| COLD! More seeds going out today! There is a lot of work today in Atlanta these days. So excited to say a brand new 8 acre inner city garden and orchard was broken ground yesterday at the Martin Luther King historical site. I need to winter so tons of pollinator plants for the garden, perennial herbs and fruits because the new farm is under a time crunch! Have been waiting a year and a half for this to happen. YEAH! |

| We were away for overnight and just returned home today. It is bitter cold and windy. It's 34 according to the thermometer but with the wind chill, I'm sure it's feeling like a lot lower. The air feels/smells like snow..there was some ice on some of the interstates this morning, I heard on tv, causing some accidents. Carolyn, I forgot people had until a certain date to get their seeds into the Wintersown swap. I remember Token posted photos of all the manilla envelopes that had been sent to him. This spurs everybody to start thinking about WS..despite the holidays upon us. I'm sure you're doing a great job and again, thanks for organizing this swap. |

| Today it got up to 34, tomorrow the high is 30, low 15. It is cold, this is january weather. I can't imagine having weather cold enough to go ice fishing. How long does it have to be below freezing to ice fish?? Oh and my assylum is still green and full of blooms!! I love that plant!! |

It only took a few weeks for there to be about 4" of ice on the lake which is when people start getting out there. No vehicles yet, just people hauling sleds of fishing stuff out. We're just now getting down to zero degrees at night, teens during the day. Soon there will be vehicles and cabins all over the lake. DH will have to drag me out there kicking and screaming... |

I used to skidoo, cross country ski and ice skate on the lake. It would take 3 weeks or so in November in Northern Ontario to do some good ol' winter sports on the lake. Never had any wintersowing at that time though, pitty! My grandma would have liked this craziness.
It is COLD here again today. I don't really have great warm clothing - I need a new jacket if this nonsense is going to stick around! |

| NOW that is SNOW!! Whoooo hooo!! I get excited over a little dusting here cause we do not get snow that often. If we get snow it may be 3 or 4 times during the season, at the MOST. NEVER like your snow!! If we get enough to build a snowman the town is shut down for several days. Just this dusting I bet the stores are filled and the milk and bread is about gone off of the shelves. lol I can not phantom that much snow, it is seriously beyond my comprehension!! |

| Yeah, it was beyond mine too, until we moved out here from the PNW, where we got about as much snow per season as you. Once in a while we'd get a foot or so, but it was wet and heavy. This here stuff is at least light and dry, but the wind causes big drifts like the one I had to dig through so I could check my mail, lol! |

| A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST MONDAY. OCCASIONAL SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT... WITH HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE BETWEEN 4 PM AND MIDNIGHT. THIS EVENING... NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY... WITH GUSTS OF 30 TO 40 MPH. ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL OF 2 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. THIS WILL RESULT IN STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES... WITH ISOLATED LOCATIONS RECEIVING UP TO 5 INCHES. It's raining, snowing and will be 15 degrees here tonight. I am hoping that does not mean the end of my vegetables (who are snug under sheets, remay and plastic tents!).
I am hoping it means fabulous spring perennials germinating!!! |

| We got wacky weather in NJ. That's why I winter sowed too early because it's been as low as 14 degrees at night. Now today we go 46 with high humidity and heavy rains. |

| It was 42° and raining when we came home last night. Now it's 21° and snowing. Wind chill is 12. Karen |

| Well I noticed this morning they had salt out on the streets. Usually when the city takes time to put out salt we do not get anything. Some forecast say we are to get ice today though I just looked at the radar and it doesn't look like anything is moving our way. When the city or county doesn't put down salt that is when we usually get nailed hard with the ice. Yes ice not snow!! |
