Moonflower vine seed collecting (slightly OT)

Is anyone ALIVE out there! I posted this on a more appropriate forum, but after several weeks of silence I've decided to bring it over here to the land of the living! Like so many of us, we had a really cold spell a few weeks ago & it frosted the leaves of my moonflower vines. Prior to the cold, they had set seed pods, but instead of getting nice & dry, they're more leathery. The seeds inside are mostly firm & pale-I've opened pods from time to time & the early harvest seem to have dried & turned darker. Does anyone know if I'll get any viable seed from this? I think I'll do a germ test on a few & I won't be listing them for trade. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

I think once the pods turn brown, the seeds are ripened. The seeds are supposed to be pale (white/light yellow) that's how you know it's fresh seed. Even the seed in commercial packets are white. I'm hoping the frost won't get my vine before the rest of the pods ripen, because they do take a very long time in doing so. I hope this helps! Monica

Oh good! The pods were brown before the freeze hit, so maybe it'll be alright! I'll certainly do a germ test with a couple before puting them in the jugs

I have never collected seed from a moonvine plant that was viable. Purchased seed this year was dark brown and hard, like a morning glory. My collected seed, white and pale.
