Hi everyone,

I've done some more seed trading and I'm writing out a list of which seeds I know to plant. So far I have these seeds on my list:

Balloon Flower
Butterfly Weed
Milkweeds
False Indigo
Black Eyed Susan
Cosmos
Datura
Sunflowers
Scabiosa
Nigella
Forget Me Not
Nasturtium
Blanket Flower
Penstemon
Mallow
Veronica
Clarkia
Celosia

I think there might be more as I think I have a couple more trades coming up. All I know is that I'll be busy come December 21st!

RE: Sorting Seeds

I typed up a spreadsheet with all the seeds I plan to sow this winter. I throughly researched each and every one. Height, width, light exposure, special needs, bloom times and bloom color. It took me about a week to get it all typed up.

THEN MY LAPTOP CRASHED, which had my only copy of my organized list!!! :(

I have to start from scratch. :( I haven't even attempted to start to redo it, with the exception of adding the table.

RE: Sorting Seeds

I had a database on my old computer, but of course, it crashed, too. I haven't tried to load my old version of Access on the new computer.

Oh my goodness, I have a lot of seeds and a lot of lists. Only a few are on the computer, but I have hand-written lists inside drawers or boxes describing the contents. It's a whirlwind of seeds coming in and seeds going out.

65 pages omw drippy you are keeping your word about trying to grow one of everything before you die. Lol

RE: Sorting Seeds

I have found that Google Documents is a great safe place to store info on line so it will never be lost on down the line when my computer crashes, as it is sure to do some day.

You can do simple documents or spreadsheets with columns of info in them. You can then sort the different columns, by bloom time, height, color, etc. You can also share the link to the doc, if you like.

Here is a link that might be useful: Google Documents

RE: Sorting Seeds

Google and cruz do not get along, ugh.

When my laptop crashed I moved the desktop in my living room. That lasted a few weeks. I couldn't handle the clutter. So I went searching for an inexpensive device. I found a sale on this cruz e-reader that runs android. So I jumped on the sale, and got one for christmas (dh got me nothing for the last 2 years). Well google makes android, but google blocks me while I am on this device. I was able to login but when I try to do anything it says I need to look at the system requirements, ugh.

Great idea though, just a shame I can't utilize it while on this device. I have tried other things with google while on this device with no luck. I can only hope that will eventually change.

Trudi, no lie some of the seeds I have I never heard of before I went to your website.

More than once I've gone looking for info on a plant or a grwoing method and I read the paragraph results on google before I look at the link and I think "this or good" or "that makes sense" and then I hit the link and go to my own website.

T ~ who is not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I've written so much I've forgotten a lot of it. LOL. Sniff, sigh. ehem.

RE: Sorting Seeds

I understand how you could forget Trudi, I mean I have a small amount compared to what all is on your website. I did all my research just a month or so ago and I am blank on more than half.
