So what are you sowing for the solstice? Mine will be:
Remembrance - a yellow climbing rose for my mother who loved yellow roses
Life - Cotoneaster horizontalis for the birds
Mother Nature - Mexican plum tree (Prunus mexicana)
Faith - Kangaroo apple (solanum aviculare)
Thank goodness, it's finally time to sow!

Remembrance - Pansies for my Mom, Brother and Grandmothers;
Life - Joe Pye Weed (first time for this)
Mother Nature - Buddleia
Faith - Petunias

I will start my planting this evening. Mom and I have to finish making Christmas cookies today.

Remembrance-Butterfly Weed (my best friend Nikki, who passed the summer before senior year, loved butterflies)
Life-Milkweed (tall,pink; unknown which species it is)
Mother Nature-Rosin Weed
Faith-Filipendula vulgaris (Dropwort)

I sowed 12 containers, but the ones I sowed with significance were:

Faith - Callicarpa americana - I've had a hard time germinating this

Remembrance - 20 Sunflower "Elf" seeds, for the lost children in the Newtown, CT massacre

Mother Nature - Cornus stolonifera, for the crone in winter

Life - Monarda, Panorama Red, for the bees, and maybe hummingbirds?

Hope you all had a wonderful day - in addition to solstice sowing, mine included candles, spiritual readings, Trans Siberian orchestra, dance, and the first stitches on an embroidered tablecloth for my daughter. Oh, and a posy of rosemary, sage, and holly for my hair. It doesn't get any better than that.
