I rec'd a pkt. of Aselepias hallii in the wintersowing swap and they are packaged in a very small clear ziploc..no name of sender. I'd love to contact this person to see where they purchased that size of ziplocs..They are perfect size for trading smaller seeds. The ones I bought from Michaels are 2"x3.75"..and I feel they are too large. I'd even be willing to trade some of their smaller ones for my size if they would be contact me.

By the way, I just googled the Asclepias Hallii and they are for Zone 5..and I live in Zone 7 so I will probably put them up for trading, but I still would love to know where the sender purchased the smaller ziplocs.

Pippi, the Z5 designation means they would be hardy to temperatures as low as Z5, not that they cannot be grown in other zones. Many will aim for plants rated for at least a zone lower than their own for insurance against losing things to those out-of-the-ordinary winter storms - I can occasionally have plants damaged or outright killed here that are 'supposed' to be hardy to (only) Z8. Now if you lived in Z5 and had seeds for a Z7 plant, that would be a different story :) Asclepias.org "Asclepias hallii Zone 5 ~ Height: to 45cm/18in ~ Sun, average soil Hall's milkweed, native to Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, has moderately narrow leaves and round umbels of pale pink flowers. We find the foliage, with its blue-grey cast and strong veination, particularly attractive. This species looks like a promising candidate for the open sunny border. Although a westerner, it does not require dry soil, and (fair warning) when happy it does have a tendency to "run"." I can't help you with the bags, I get mine at Staples and they are about 2x3 and although I've received seeds in smaller, the Staples bags are the best price in my area.

Pippi, I am not for sure who sent those seeds in. A few people did have baggies like that. 1 person I know for sure was austinnhannasmom. I was also wondering where she got those little baggies those were nice. Like morz said those seeds are appropriate for your zone. ;)

I had been using 1x1.5 baggies but when it was time to get more, I got 2x2. I actually like the 2x2 better... I've even traded some with a few people that were looking for some.
