Countdown~ Five daze to go

I brought in the frozen bag of soil and placed it over the hall grate to the furnace. Emily, the puppy, saw it and started barking at it and wouldn't stop until I coaxed her over to show that is was just a bag of soil and not a dangerous monster that would attack Mommy ;-O

Awwwww, that is so sweet!! Puppies are so cute and adorable, till they start chewing everything up, lol.

Did you ever figure out what you were going to plant for your remberance of your lost loved Lizzy??

No, not yet. She's buried in the garden so I want to sow something to plant over her. Lizzy loved pawing through the soil when I was digging--she would pull up fat white grubs and munch on them like they were candy. Lip-smacking good, or so she thought. Bleccch. She loved chasing the squirrel and she would steal winter squash right off the vines the moment they were ripe.

My Lizzy.

I just saw on the Farmers Almanac there's a total lunar eclipse...of the FULL MOON...on the solstice this year! Holy cow! Talk about a fun & event-filled solstice celebration. Criminy! Add winter sowing and it just doesn't get more exciting than that!

I thought I was on track but fell off the wagon. I did not get my jugs prepped over the weekend like I had planned. Will have to shoot for this weekend. I wish I had White Bleeding Heart Seeds. They would be a good remembrance seed for both my MIL and my kitty Dega we lost last month. I buried Dega in a bed by my greenhouse. I still have to go through my seeds to figure out the others.

A full moon! My gosh--hope for clouds otherwise my neighbors might see me doing my nekkid WinterSown Goddess dance. Eeek. Might have to just go nekkid under my clothes again. Well, it's a thought.

I have been over here re looking up a few things, and I am excited. Lol I am already dancing nekkid under my clothes!!

It is suppose be an entire 40F Saturday and only partly cloudy. After this cold spell we are attempting to get out of that is almost shorts and t-shirt weather (not). I think I will use that day for all of my prep work. Tuesday will be 42F!!

I've got some 2 liter plastic bottles and 1 gallon milk jugs ready... I think I'll have about 30 total this year. Just need to punch holes in the bottoms and put soil in. Seeds are all ready to be planted!
Trudi, your Lizzy sure was a real pretty girl.
Getting tons of rain here so hope it will be a clear day on winter solstice so I can plant. : )

Newbie question: what time do you all plant on the solstice? Do you stay up and plant at 12:01, or just sometime later in the day? I was thinking it would be fun to plant during the eclipse this year--very exciting for my first WS!

Have a few gathered water jugs and a few 2 liters, they have yet to be prepared but seed packs are ready! Going for about 10 new different plants. YaY!!!
