The two black spots are Morning Glory Seeds This is a super close up shot It's labeled starter mix for chicks, hope size is okay, do I have to sift it? Hope not.

| Looks fine. Just be sure to go lightly--don't use much more than if you were shaking salt on scrambled eggs. If you use too much grit, it defeats the purpose. |

| That looks about like what I use, but how much depends on the size of the seed. For very fine seed, just a shake or sprinkle like gardenweed describes, but for something larger like hellebore seeds I use a layer of about 1/16" inch all the way side to side across the pot. |

| Thanks Gardenweed and Morz8 a lot for the info, I might need to use a little less. I've been keeping the "less is best" motto though pretty much all the way. 50 containers in one day, and I'm going back to do some more! Yeah Ha Morz8 thank you for the great discription of the benefits of using the bird grit. |
