winter sowing catmint

I tried to wintersow catmint last year with seeds from Parks. They sprouted very well but I somehow managed to kill them. It didn't seem like they ever got too wet or too dry - not quite sure what happened. Has anyone who has had success with winter sowing catmint noticed anything that might improve my success with it - since I love catmint in my desert garden I am going to try again.

Are you talking about Napeta? It's easy to WS here in Columbus, same as everything else.

Yes - Nepeta - I have quite a bit of it in my garden but have been paying for grown plants from the nursery or Bluestone. I'll hope for better luck this year.

Hi Linda. I ws for the first time last year and catmint, Nepeta, is one of the first things I sowed. I ended up with a very large pot spilling over. It did great and I didn't do anything special for it. Other things I tried (petunias) did nothing and it seems everyone else on the forum grew beautiful petunias! Try again and you will probably have success. Good luck.
