    Bonnie,
I noticed you sowed Cali poppies now. Have you done them this early before? Do they sprout well for you when you sow them this early?
I ask, because I usually wait until March or April, but I don't get very good germination numbers on them. I'm wondering if maybe I should be putting them out now too?

    Linda

  • highalttransplant

Linda, this is only my second year to try them. Last year, I waited until late March, but the germination was really low, and they croaked almost immediately when I planted them out. New strategy this year, sow them early, and plant them out while they are still tiny. I'll let you know how it works out!

Amy, where did you find the Helenium 'Red Shades'?

    Bonnie

  • lblack61

Thanks, Bonnie :-) Maybe I'll do half now and half later and see which does the best. I have enough seeds to try that.

    Just1morehosta,
No need to wait until May on Tomatoes...I've learned that those babies are happy anytime. They don't sprout until it gets warm enough for them anyway. I just would have to watch them if we get a late freeze, but even then, they don't seem to care. I was even brave enough this year to only sow 2 to 3 seeds of each type. They are that reliable for WSing.
Basil? That can't go out until probably late April or May. Peppers? I do indoors. But Toms are hardy little buggers. They go out, out, out, and early as I can get them there! :-)
