| I was surprised to find a few seeds not listed in the FAQ's suggested lists, but I would certainly think I could winter sow them here - I am right on the border between zones 7 and 8, according to the Arbor Day Foundation map. They are:
Asclepias syriaca (Common milkweed) Agastache foeniculum (Anise hyssop) Penstemon calycosus (Calico beardtongue) Helichrysum (Strawflower) Also, how about the common zinnias, such as "Candy Cane" and "Pinwheel"? |

| Strawflower is an annual. I would do this in March or April. They come up really fast. |

| I second the strawflower suggestion. I WS early the first time and they all died from a random heavy frost. Last year I waited until May, I think, and they all lived. WAIT on zinias. They too grow really fast and will die if you get a frost. I've killed many that way :) So wait to sow until close to your last frost. They grow quickly, and at least here in Z6 will bloom until first frost. |

| Thanks for the advice - I will wait until April to sow Strawflower and Zinnia seeds, and I think I will wait about sunflowers also even though they are on the list! These are hybrids, so they may not be as hardy. |
